My name is Erik Brown and my initials really are e-e-b, so what better blog to have than one about bees! Growing up, we visited my grandparents on Block Island, RI nearly every summer for a week or more. My grandfather kept a few dozen hives on the island and raised and sold honey for nearly 40 years. He always said that he won the Rhode Island state fair a few years in a row, and then stopped going because he knew his honey was one of the best. I spent many hours watching him make candles in his Candle House. I visited the bees with him once but was only 9 years old and got scared.
In the fall of 2014 I was exposed to a top bar hive at a craft fair, and couldn’t stop thinking about having my own hives. So I tracked down the vendor and bought one, attended bee school with my daughter, and started keeping bees in April 2015. I started this site in 2014 as an outlet for my thoughts and activities, and have been posting off and on ever since.
When not thinking about bees, I work in the IT business in northern Virginia. Aside from the little buzzers, I enjoy soccer, writing, and annoying my family.

Erik, I see that you are truly passionate about Bees and you have inherited that love for these amazing little organisms from your Grandfather from an early age and it all shows in your teaching and nurturing your hives.
